How It All Started

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creativity. As a kid, I was always sketching, doodling, or playing with art sets. There was something about turning a blank page into something full of life and expression. Then, as I got older and discovered graffiti, my world changed. It was bold, raw, and unapologetic—art that didn’t just exist quietly but demanded to be seen. That’s when I really fell in love with visual storytelling and the power it has to make an impact.

But like a lot of us, life pulled me in a different direction. For years, I worked as an HVAC technician in New Jersey. It was honest work, and I was good at it—solving problems, helping people, and keeping systems running. But something was missing. Every day, I’d go to work feeling like I was leaving a big part of myself behind.

Eventually, I couldn’t ignore the pull toward creativity anymore. I didn’t know exactly where to start, but I knew I had to try. So, I began teaching myself graphic design, branding, and web design in every spare moment I had. My days were spent working HVAC, and my nights and early mornings were filled with YouTube tutorials, LinkedIn Learning classes, and pretty much becoming obsessed with the Made by James courses. Honestly? It was exhausting. But it also gave me purpose.

Over time, I started gaining traction. I got my first opportunities—first at a branding agency and later as an in-house designer. Those roles challenged me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I learned how to adapt, solve creative problems, and bring ideas to life. They showed me what it takes to create brands and designs that truly resonate with people.

Now, I’m proud to say I’ve made it to a place I once only dreamed of. I’m working full-time as a graphic designer, doing what I love every day. But here’s the thing: I’m still on this journey. I still have so much more to learn and so many ways to grow. And honestly, that’s what excites me the most.

This whole experience has taught me that life isn’t about reaching a final destination—it’s about the process. It’s about showing up every day, facing the challenges, and finding joy in the growth.

So, if you’re chasing your own dream, I hope my story reminds you that it’s okay to take it one step at a time. I’m not done yet, and I don’t think I ever will be. There’s always more to discover, create, and share.

Stay tuned. Follow along. The journey’s just getting started.
